Cyberspace abuse could harm economy – MWIIMBU
By Sharon Siame
Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU says abuse of the cyberspace has potential to disrupt the country’s economic development if not curtailed.
Mr. MWIIMBU says Government is making strides to address cyber crimes and abuse of cyberspace by working towards strengthening the legal framework governing the internet.
He says it is unfortunate that some of the perpetrators of cyber crimes are being aided by Members of Parliament.
The Home Affairs Minister said this in the National Assembly when contributing to debate on a motion of thanks to President HICHILEMA’s speech on the progress made in the application of National values and principles.
And Mr. MWIIMBU said Government is completing the construction of six dormitories with a holding capacity of 1,600 inmates at Nansanga in Serenje and the construction of a 1,850 capacity ultra modern facility in Mwembeshi.
Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Minister urged women to support the Constitution amendment process to have more representation in the National Assembly.
Mr. MWIIMBU noted that the issue of women representation in the National Assembly has been a prominent one that has always been raised by the public and all the Commissions of Inquiry pertaining to constitutional review.
