DEC seeks to seize Kamono farm’s assets and funds
By Michael Kaumba
The Director of Public Prosecutions has initiated proceedings in the Economic and Financial Crimes Court seeking to seize funds and assets from Kamono Farms Initiative Limited and its Directors.
Drug Enforcement Commission Spokesperson ALLAN TAMBA says the DPP is seeking forfeiture of assets and funds to the state for the benefit of affected depositors.
This follows the successful prosecution in the matter involving Kamono Farms Initiative Limited and its Directors in the Lusaka Magistrates Court.
Mr TAMBA has advised the public to manage their expectations, as the funds and assets are much less than the total deposits collected by the convicts.
In April 2023, DEC arrested Kamono Farms Initiative Limited Directors FANWELL ZULU, ENOCK CHIBUTU and MIRRIAM SOKO on three charges of unlicensed financial practice, fraudulent investment solicitations, and suspected money laundering.
The DPP is currently reviewing the judgement and may consider appealing on the third count where the convicts were acquitted.
