
DEC Tasked to Adopt Comprehensive Approach to Crime

Government has tasked the Drug Enforcement Commission -DEC- to adopt a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to combating drug and money laundering crimes.
Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister, JACK MWIIMBU says DEC must embrace new technologies like artificial intelligence, data analysis, and international partnerships to attain positive results.
Speaking when he opened the DEC Senior Officers Conference, Mr. MWIIMBU said resources will soon be made available for the construction of the rehabilitation center, as guided by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.
He said organized crime is not only a matter of law enforcement but also a development concern, adding that cross sector collaboration is essential to achieve lasting impact.
Meanwhile, DEC Director General NASON BANDA said it is the duty of all officers to fight crime in line with priorities of government and the President.
Mr. BANDA said officers are obliged to align themselves with the policies of the government of the day.
