Deforestation drops in three districts after charcoal ban

The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment has announced a significant reduction in deforestation rates in Shibuyunji, Mumbwa and Itezhi-Tezhi districts following the charcoal ban.
Green Economy and Environment Minister MIKE MPOSHA however says the ban on charcoal production in the three districts is still in effect.
Speaking to ZNBC news, Mr. MPOSHA added that the ministry will conduct a review within the next two months, marking a year since the ban’s implementation.
Meanwhile Mr. MPOSHA said the Mukula ban also remains in effect stating that the ministry is currently conducting a mop-up exercise to seize illegally harvested Mukula.
