DPP applies for the forfeiture of 2,000 timber logs and logging equipment

Director of Public Prosecutions- DPP- GILBERT PHIRI has applied for the forfeiture of over 2,000 seized timber logs belonging to a foreign national deemed to be proceeds of crime.
Chirundu Department of National Park and Wildlife Investigations Officer, NIXON SHAKANTU has filed the application in the Economic and Financial Crimes Court on behalf of Mr. PHIRI.
Mr. SHAKANTU has also applied for the seizure of a fork lifter and wood misers allegedly belonging to the suspect.
He has disclosed that the properties were discovered at Sena Plus Investment in LUSAKA.
Mr. SHAKANTU says this followed investigations into allegations that the suspect was illegally dealing in timber.
He has stated that the suspect was additionally charged with possession of properties deemed to be proceeds of crime.
