The Electoral Commission of Zambia –ECZ- has started reviewing the 2019 Delimitation Report in light of ongoing Constitution review discussions.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer BROWN KASARO says the commission is taking into consideration various factors as outlined in Article 59 of the Constitution of Zambia in order to provide input into the constitution review process.
Mr. KASARO has assured the public of the commission’s commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement as it reviews the 2019 Delimitation Report.
In a statement to ZNBC news, the ECZ Chief Electoral Officer acknowledged the public discourse surrounding the delimitation process and assured stakeholders that the Commission is actively assessing the 2019 report.
Mr. KASARO noted that the 2019 Delimitation Report was compiled after extensive nationwide consultations, and has pledged to provide a comprehensive update once the internal review is completed.
He said stakeholder engagement will also follow to ensure inclusivity in the process.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Reform Technical Committee (ERTC), which collected submissions from stakeholders across all ten provinces in October 2024, is nearing completion of its work.
Mr. KASARO said the final report is expected to be submitted to the Executive on April 22, 2025, in accordance with the established roadmap.
The ECZ has reiterated its dedication to fostering a credible electoral process and ensuring that all reforms are conducted transparently, with the full participation of stakeholders.
