Elephant kills 65-year-old man in Chama

An elephant has killed a 65-year-old man in Chama district, Eastern Province.
The deceased has been identified as WINSTONE CHIBANGA, a resident of Chief Chikwa Chiefdom.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner DENNIS MOOLA has confirmed in an interview with ZNBC News over the telephone.
Mr. MOOLA explained that on February 16, 2025, around 08:00 hours, Mr. CHIBANGA left his home to make hoe handles in the bush but did not return.
He said family members launched a search for him in the bush and found his lifeless body with intestines protruding.
Mr. MOOLA further said the area had elephant footprints, which suggested that the animal killed him.
