Embrace local foods, VEEP urges Zambians

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has urged Zambians to embrace the country’s traditional foods if they are to stay healthy.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says Zambia is blessed to have foods that are rich in nutrients.
She however notes with concern that the Zambia has not done well with local foods because of the drought that has affected the country.
Mrs. NALUMANGO was speaking during the commemoration of World Food Day in Lusaka.
And Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, OLIVER KALABO called for partnerships that could help eradicate hunger in the country.
United Nations Acting Resident Coordinator JAMES WAKIAGA pledged the UN’s commitment to supporting Zambia in addressing the drought impact.
Meanwhile, Education Minister DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA thanked the Vice President for ensuring that the school feeding programme is expanded to 116 districts in the 2025 National budget.
