By Christopher Miti
Eastern Province Minister Peter Phiri is impressed with the progress made on the construction of Chieftainess Kawaza’s palace in Katete District.
Mr. Phiri says the works have reached over 50 percent completion in ten months.
He says the construction of the palace will restore the dignity of traditional leaders.
Mr. Phiri has, however, appealed to the Ministry of Local Government to expedite the works.
Mr. Phiri was speaking when he inspected the construction works.
Chieftainess Kawaza expressed her gratitude to the government for building chiefs’ palaces.
Meanwhile, Katete Council Secretary Kate Mukonde said the completion of some Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects has been delayed due to some omissions in the planning stage.
Ms. Mukonde said the local authority is now rectifying some anomalies to ensure that all the projects are done to the expected standards.
