EP Minister warns councils against under utilization of CDF
By Christopher Miti
Eastern Province Minister PETER PHIRI has warned local authorities that he will not tolerate under-utilisation of the Constituency Development Fund.
Mr. PHIRI says local authorities should go beyond the 85 and 98 percent CDF utilisation target set by the government for 2024 and 2025.
He says it is unacceptable for the CDF to lie idle in some councils when people are yearning for development.
Mr. PHIRI said this when he commissioned CDF projects that were constructed at 4.6 million Kwacha in Kaumbwe constituency in Petauke District.
And Kaumbwe Member of Parliament AARON MWANZA says CDF is slowly responding to several infrastructure needs in the constituency.
And Chieftainess MWANJABANTHU, who spoke through a representative, appealed to her subjects to safeguard developmental projects being done in the area.
Mr PHIRI also commissioned CDF projects in Petauke Central Constituency.
