EU sets aside 16.5 million Euros for Zambia
(ZANIS) The European Union -EU- has committed an amount of 10 million Euros to support Zambia’s artisanal mining in order to formalise the sector and ultimately create more jobs.
The EU has further set aside 6.5 Million Euros to enhance skills development for job creation in Zambia.
This is under a programme dubbed skills development for increased employability, which focuses on improving the relevance and capacity of TEVET institutions, to ensure they are relevant with the requirements of the labour market.
EU delegation leader to Zambia and COMESA, KAROLINA STASIAK disclosed this during a courtesy call on the Minister of Labour and Social Security BRENDA TAMBATAMBA at her office.
And Ms. TAMBATAMBA has welcomed the development, adding that it is in line with government’s agenda to improve job creation through skills development.
She added that skills development is one of the priority job creation strategies that government has included in the 8th National Development Plan.
