FRA to buy one million tonnes of maize

Government has directed the Food Reserve Agency- FRA to buy one million metric tonnes of Maize during the 2025 crop marketing season.

FRA Board Chairperson SURESH DESAI revealed this during the handover ceremony of 32 grain dryers to the agency purchased by Government.

Mr. DESAI said the one million tonnes of grains will enable the country to be food secure.

And officiating at the event, Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary for Technical Services JOHN MULONGOTI said the dryers will help the agency commence the crop marketing season early as they will help in managing moisture content in grains.

Mr. MULONGOTI has reaffirmed the ministry’s support to the Agency to ensure food security in the country.
