Govt Applauds EU for Continued Support in Developing the Lobito Corridor
The government is happy with the continued European Union (EU) support toward different development programmes, including the development of the Lobito Corridor.
Speaking when EU Ambassador to Zambia and COMESA, Karolina Stasiak, paid a courtesy visit on him, Transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali said that while other countries’ envelopes have dropped, the EU has maintained its support to Zambia.
Mr. Tayali said the consistency in terms of engagement by the EU on the Lobito Corridor development is a testament that the organization remains a strategic partner for Zambia.
Ambassador Stasiak said that as the EU celebrates 50 years of partnership with Zambia, the country remains a key partner.
She said the EU sees more trade investment, trade-based opportunities, and an increased presence of EU companies.
Meanwhile, EU Head of International Cooperation Claudio Bacigalupi said the ultimate goal is to attract business along the Lobito Corridor.
