
Govt delivers 156,000 bags of Maize in Gwembe
Government has delivered over 156,000 by 50 kilogramme bags of maize grain to communities in Gwembe under the community sales programme through the Food Reserve Agency.
The delivery of the maize grain started January 2024.
Gwembe District Commissioner Killion CHIKANDULA praised government for coming to the aid of communities following a drought that affected Gweembe and most districts in the country.
Mr. CHIKANDULA, was briefing Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary for Administration YVONNE MPUNDU paid a courtesy call on him in Gwembe.
He expressed gratitude to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s New Dawn Administration for quick intervention in delivering maize grain to the district during the drought.
And Ms MPUNDU is happy that no one died due to hunger from the time government declared the drought a national disaster.
Ms. MPUNDU explained that the New Dawn Administration is taking care of everybody.
And speaking during the the Launch of the Programme for Integrated Development and Adaptation to Climate Change in Munyumbwe in Gwembe, Ms. MPUNDU said the project will be implemented in the most vulnerable wards of Siambabala, Chibuwe, and Kkoma.
AND speaking on behalf of other farmers KEBBY NABALOBA observed that the communities suffered negative effects of climate change characterised by droughts and flush floods for a number of years.
Mr. NABALOBA praised President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s New Dawn Administration for coming to the aid of the communities in Gwembe cluster through the PIDACC Project.
