Govt disburses K800m in bursaries for schools and skills institutions
By Bridget Mulilanduba
The government has disbursed over 800 million kwacha in bursaries to secondary boarding schools and skills training institutions across the country.
Local Government Permanent Secretary Maambo Haamundu says the money so far disbursed is under the 2025 CDF allocation and will be able to cater to the needs of pupils and students under the bursary scheme across the country.
Mr. Haamundu, however, says those that still need resources are free to request from the ministry to meet the demand for bursaries.
Speaking to ZNBC News, Mr. Haamundu says the government has put in place mechanisms for tracking the utilization of the funds to ensure prudent use.
He said the government conducts regular monitoring and evaluation exercises to assess the impact of the scheme and ensure that the disbursement process is transparent and free from corruption.
Mr. Haamundu said the disbursement of bursaries and loans is a key initiative by the government to promote education and skills development in Zambia.
