Govt Disturbed with Reports of Delayed Payments to Suppliers

Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE says the government is disturbed with reports of delayed payments to local suppliers and contractors by some mining firms.

Mr. KABUSWE says he will conduct a  tour of  mining firms  to assess their compliance with government expectations and payment to local suppliers and contractors.

He has also called on recapitalized mining companies to ensure that their investments benefit local communities.

Mr. KABUSWE further noted the need for mining companies to prioritize local suppliers and contractors as they are doing business.

The Minister acknowledged the significant investments that most  mining companies on the Copperbelt and Northwestern have made and emphasised that local communities must benefit.
