By Mark Ziligone
Government has started the expansion process of its fuel storage facilities in Tanzania as part of its preparations for the construction of a new fuel pipeline.
Energy Permanent Secretary, Peter Mumba has revealed that the storage capacity at the TAZAMA Tank Farm in Tanzania will increase from the current 233 million liters to 353 million liters.
Mr. MUMBA was speaking when he toured the TAZAMA Tank Farms in Dar-es-Salaam’s Kigamboni area today.
He said government aims to avoid a situation where it lacks sufficient storage capacity for fuel once the new pipeline is completed.
Mr. MUMBA further explained that the successful implementation of the Open Access Framework and the construction of the new pipeline calls for enhanced storage capacity at the TAZAMA Tank Farms in Dar-es-Salaam.
He added that the expansion project which is currently at the feasibility stage will be essential in bolstering the energy infrastructure in both Zambia and Tanzania.
