Govt exploring possibility of importing Angolan fuel

ZAMBIA is exploring the possibility of importing fuel from ANGOLA.
Ministry of Energy Director of Petroleum, RODNEY KALOTA has disclosed the development.
He says government is committed to exploring various measures to ensure constant fuel supply in the country.
And Mr. KALOTA says the Ministry of Energy is equal to the task to implement President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s call to ensure predictability of fuel prices.
He was speaking in LUSAKA today during the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry ZACCI’s Energy Breakfast Meeting.
Meanwhile, Total Energies Director- Strategy and Corporation MIKE MULONGOTI said government has no control over fuel prices.
Mr. MULONGOTI said fuel prices are determined by economic fundamentals on the international market.
And RUBIS Energy Supply and Distribution Manager KELVIN CHONGO attributed the growth in fuel service stations to ZAMBIA’s economic growth.
Mr. CHONGO added that various economic activities in the country have triggered the demand for fuel thereby pushing up supply chains.
And Energy Regulation Board -ERB Fossil Fuels Senior Manager CHEWE KANWA called on proprietors of fuel service stations to adhere to safety measures.
Mr. KANWA said all the established fuel stations in the country whose establishment has been approved have met operation standards.
