Govt exposes Opposition plan against Zambia’s reputation
By Ruth Chayinda
Government says it has unearthed a scheme by some opposition political parties to tarnish the country’s image through alleged complaints of human rights abuses.
Chief Government Spokesperson, CORNELIUS MWEETWA says government is aware that the opposition has recruited a number of people to act as victims of the alleged abuses of human rights.
Mr. MWEETWA, who is also Information and Media Minister, said this during a press briefing.
He has also advised the international community not to pay attention to the alleged abuse of human rights being peddled by the opposition because their claims do not in any way depict the reality.
Mr. MWEETWA said the scheme is not only dirty but has potential to take away from the many successes the country has scored in the last three years.
He said during that the PF reign, a number of citizens lost their lives arising from police brutality and political violence.
And Mr. MWEETWA has stressed that there is no citizen in prison or in police custody without any offence.
