Govt launches $10m Prefab housing production plant

Government has launched a 10 million Dollars Green Prefabricated Housing Production Plant at the Multi Facility Economic Zone.
The Plant is expected to help reduce the current housing deficit of 1.5 million.
Speaking after the groundbreaking ceremony, Infrastructure Minister CHARLES MILUPI said the government has gone into a partnership with China Jiangsu International Economic Technical Cooperation Corporation through the National Housing Authority.
And Mr MILUPI disclosed that the launch of the plant is as a result of the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed between Zambia and China when President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA visited China in September, 2023.
And China Jiangsu International Economic Technical Cooperation Corporation Zambia Limited Managing Director, WANG SHULIN said the project will provide cheaper housing units and will be able to provide independent solar power.
Meanwhile, Multi Facility Economic Zone Managing Director MWIZA MUSETEKA said the Green Prefabricated housing plant is the 17th company to invest in the construction sector .
In a vote of thanks, Zambia Development Agency Director General ALBERT HALWAMPA disclosed that there is an investment of 2 billion dollars in the third quarter of this year.
