Govt launches Comprehensive Agriculture Transformation Support Programme
Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has launched the Comprehensive Agriculture Transformation Support Programme -CATSP, an initiative to tackle challenges in the agriculture sector.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says the programme aims to boost agricultural productivity and enhance resilience among farmers facing climate change impacts.
Speaking during the launch in Lusaka today, Mrs. NALUMANGO said the programme will improve access to agricultural financing, supporting irrigation and mechanisation.
Agriculture Minister REUBEN MTOLO said the Comprehensive Agriculture Transformation Support Programme is a tool for market development, incorporating private sector participation in input distribution and mechanisation activities.
Livestock and Fisheries Minister PETER KAPALA, speaking through Energy Minister MAKOZO CHIKOTE, described CATSP as a timely intervention for transformation of the Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries sectors.
And representing cooperating partners, Dr. DAVID HOWLETT expressed hope that the Comprehensive Agriculture Transformation Support Programme will enhance transparency in the distribution of agricultural inputs.
