Govt pays agro-suppliers K2bn

Over 2 billion Kwacha has been paid to certified agro-suppliers for redeemed farming inputs under the E-voucher system in the 2024/2025 farming season.

The payments are as of November 29, 2024.

Agriculture Minister REUBEN MTOLO says this is aimed at improving liquidity in the agricultural supply chain by ensuring timely payments to suppliers.

And Mr. MTOLO says the supply and distribution of inputs for 2024/2025 farming season in all systems, have been successfully executed.

In a statement to ZNBC news in Lusaka today, the Minister said the progress marks a significant step forward in supporting farmers and ensuring timely preparation for the farming season.

Meanwhile Mr. MTOLO said so far over 930,000 farmers have redeemed their inputs under the e-voucher and Direct Input Supply, representing over 90 percent of the total.

He has urged farmers to take advantage of the rains and plant to ensure early harvest.
