Govt plans to increase beef exports

Government has devised plans to establish Beef Compartments across the country, aimed at increasing beef exports.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister, PETER KAPALA says his Ministry has already engaged a consultant to assess where the beef compartments would be set.

Mr. KAPALA explained to Nais that the Beef compartment programme will help to enhance identification of livestock for export and boost beef production.

He said the  compartment will only be established in livestock free disease zones and where there is high cattle production.

And, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Principal Livestock Production Officer, ELLISON MSIMUKO has called for enhanced cattle breeding to improve the quality of beef.
