
Govt Proposes Revision of Laws against Sexual Abuse of Children
Government has proposed the revision of some laws to strengthen penalties against sexual abuse of children.
Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says punishment will also be given to women who conceal any cases of molestation and sexual abuse among children in their homes
Mrs. NALUMANGO says the current rise of sexual abuse cases in the country is disheartening and has called on Zambians to rise against the vice.
The Vice President says the nation needs to address the root cause of the matter as it is an injustice to children and affected families.
She has since called on women to join and champion the fight against Gender Based Violence.
Mrs. NALUMANGO was speaking during the 2025 ABSA Women’s month celebration brunch held in Lusaka today.
She has since reaffirmed Governments commitment in fight gender inequality and promote policies that will empower women to thrive in various sectors as well as take up key roles in Governance positions.
Justice Minister PRINCESS KASUNE called on women to take up their place in key leadership positions.
And ABSA Bank Board Chairperson AUSTINE MWAPE says the firm is determined to continuously implement initiatives that supplements Government efforts in empowering women across the nation.
Meanwhile ABSA Bank Managing Director MIZINGA MELU says the Bank remains committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and giving women a platform to share their stories.
