Govt refutes Opposition’s mining auction allegations

Chief Government spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA says the mining sector has not been auctioned to foreigners as alleged by opposition political leaders.
Mr. MWEETWA who is also Information and Media Minister told ZNBC News that the mining sector has seen a lot of foreign investment owing to the stability in policy surrounding investment in the mining sector.
He said the government has created an environment that has attracted both foreign and local interest in investing in the mining sector.
Meanwhile, Mines and Minerals Development Minister PAUL KABUSWE said the government wants to ensure local participation in the mining sector.
Speaking when he led a delegation of four Ministers in Solwezi, Mr. KABUSWE said the government wants increased local participation in the mining chain.
And Labour and Social Security Minister BRENDA TAMBATAMBA said the government is keen on seeing numerous social investments in the mining sector.
