Govt to adopt outgrower schemes model

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the government will adopt an out grower scheme model in sectors such as agriculture.
The President says such schemes should be replicated in key sectors such as mining where large companies will incorporate smallholder entities into their businesses.
Speaking at Zambia Sugar’s 60th anniversary in Mazabuka, which also coincided with the launch of an expanded out grower scheme, President HICHILEMA said Zambia Sugar should refine its scheme, which could be adopted by the Government in other sectors like mining.
Under the expanded scheme, 1-thousand more smallholder farmers will be engaged.
And President HICHILEMA said just as Zambia Sugar is doing in agriculture, the Government would like to adopt a similar model in mining, where large companies would collaborate with small licensed mines.
And, Zambia Sugar Board Chairperson ROZETA CHABALA announced the company’s launch of an expanded out grower scheme, increasing production hectarage by approximately 3,000.
And Zambia Sugar Managing Director OSWALD MAGWENZI pledged his company’s continued support toward Zambia’s development.
And Mazabuka Member of Parliament GARY NKOMBO expressed gratitude to President HICHILEMA for improving selected roads in Mazabuka, which have enhanced the district’s appearance and facilitated movement.
