“Govt to Continue Respecting and Recognizing Church Counsel”
By Christopher Miti
Chief Government spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says the government will continue respecting and recognizing the counsel of the church.
Mr. Mweetwa says this is important because of the proximity of the church to ordinary people, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
He says collaboration with the church is important because it embraces everyone regardless of their political affiliation.
Speaking when he called on Chipata Diocese Bishop George Lungu and his Auxiliary Bishop Gabriel Msipu in Chipata, Mr. Mweetwa said the church is a partner in development.
Bishop Lungu said the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops is open for dialogue.
Bishop Lungu also appealed to the government to pay attention to the human-animal conflict.
