Govt to establish a rice processing plant in Nakonde

Government plans to establish a rice processing plant in Nakonde district to boost agriculture activities in Muchinga Province.

Small and Medium Enterprise Development Minister ELIAS MUBANGA says the initiative aims to support business growth in the area, enhance food security and increase exports.

Mr. MUBANGA says Nakonde has significant business potential and government is committed to nurturing such initiatives.

He said this when he toured Hildah Paul Farms Limited in Nakonde district.

And Hildah Paul Farms Limited Director LLOYD SIAME said the farm has received support from the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission-CEEC.

Mr. SIAME said the farm is 250 hectares and only 50 hectares has been cultivated for rice.

And Northern Province Minister LEONARD MBAO encouraged Zambian youths to participate in enhancing national food security through initiatives supported by CEEC.
