Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU says investigations to identify rogue Police officers will NOT be restricted to a particular period.
Mr. MWIIMBU says the due diligence to determine the integrity of officers will cover the entire Police Service.
He was responding to Kabwata Member of Parliament ANDREW TAYENGWA who asked Mr. MWIIMBU whether the Ministry of Home Affairs will consider doing due diligence on officers employed between 2011 and 2021.
Mr. MWIIMBU said even though he is aware of allegations that recruitment of Police officers during a specified period was not done on merit, assessments will be done on all serving officers.
The Home Affairs Minister has reiterated his commitment to rid the Police Service of rogue officers.
And Mr. MWIIMBU said preliminary investigations have revealed that the firearms used in the IBA Director General, GUNTILA MULEYA’s death are illegal.
