Govt to invest in Northern corridor Aviation sector
(ZANIS) President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has reaffirmed government’s commitment to invest in the aviation sector in the Northern Corridor to open up the Northern Circuit.
President HICHILEMA says government remains steadfast to achieve this as can be seen by the rehabilitation of Kasama Airport to international standards.
He says government will also construct airports in Nakonde and Chinsali to international standards as a way of opening up the areas for business.
The Head of State said this at Kasama airport before departing for Nakonde where he has officiated at the Umutomolo traditional ceremony of the Namwanga people.
The President said government will also modernize the Nakonde one-stop border post to reduce congestion at the facility.
Meanwhile, President HICHILEMA said government also plans to invest in irrigation systems in the Northern region.
He said the area is endowed with abundant natural resources like water, which should be used to produce crops all year round.
Meanwhile, President HICHILEMA called on the United Party for National Development members to work in unity.
He said those occupying offices should be supported and given an opportunity to work.
Earlier, Northern Province Minister, LEONARD MBAO welcomed President HICHILEMA to the Province and thanked him for interacting with people who were waiting for him at the airport.
