Government has assured residents of Kanyama Constituency whose properties were demolished to pave the way for drainage works that compensation money will be paid this week.
Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, NICHOLAS PHIRI, says 48 individuals who signed compensation contracts should expect payments this week.
Mr. PHIRI says about eight cases will delay receiving payments due to untraceable bank accounts.
He has told ZNBC in an interview that delays were caused by unverified bank details and an authentication process conducted by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit.
He says demolitions have been successfully carried out in Lady Diana, Kalusha Bwalya, and Seventy Seventy areas.
Mr. PHIRI has since commended Kanyama residents for their cooperation, including four individuals who voluntarily surrendered their properties for demolition.
