By Kasabula Muchimba
The Ministry of Community Development has closed the Emergency Social Cash programme, which was introduced for drought affected families.
The programme, which was introduced last year and benefitted 2.2 million people countrywide, comes to an end on April 30, 2025.
Community Development Public Relations Officer, CHANDA KANSWE has told ZNBC news that the beneficiaries of the programme have been engaged and they are ready to transition.
Mr KANSWE has explained that the closure of the programme will NOT affect the regular social cash transfer, which is benefiting 1.3 million beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, some beneficiaries of the Emergency Social Cash Programme have expressed appreciation to government for the support.
