By Hannock Kasama
The government has waived visa requirements for nationals from 53 countries for entry into Zambia.
Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu says the measure, effective January 2025, has been implemented through Statutory Instrument Number 78 of 2024.
Mr. Mwiimbu says the development brings to 167 the number of countries whose citizens have been granted visa waivers for entry into Zambia.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Mwiimbu said the waiver of visa requirements for citizens of these countries will not only stimulate tourist arrivals in Zambia but also foreign investment.
Zambia Tourism Agency Chief Executive Officer Matongo Matamwandi said more than two million tourist arrivals in Zambia are expected to be registered by the end of 2024.
Mr. Matamwandi said that as of November 2024, tourist arrivals in Zambia stood at 1.9 million.
