“Govt will turn around the economy”

UPND Secretary General BATUKE IMENDA has assured Zambians that government will turn round the country`s economy, the same way it has managed to fulfil campaign promises that were made prior to the 2021 General election.
Outlining various achievements of the UPND Government since coming into office three years ago, Mr IMENDA says President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and his government remain grateful to the people of Zambia who made a decision through the ballot to change for a better Zambia on August 12, 2021.
Mr IMENDA says through support by the people of Zambia, the UPND Government has been able to run the country peacefully, devoid of thuggery behaviour and bloodshed.
He says despite the various challenges the country has experienced such as the drought, the UPND government has made tremendous progress in fulfilling campaign promises.
Mr. IMENDA has cited the huge debt mountain UPND inherited and managed to restructure.
He says as promised to the people of Zambia, the UPND government
managed to clinch an investment deal with Mopani copper Mine thereby attracting an investment of over 1.3 million United States.
Mr IMENDA says government has also managed to secure 49 percent share holding in the mine, which is a serious investment for the country.
The UPND Secretary General also says in addition to revamping Mopani Copper Mine, Konkola Copper Mines -KCM – is back and running , having also paid the creditors their money.
He says in addition to free education, the recruitment of over 39,000 teachers and over 14,000 health workers in the past two years government has also built more than 1,000 classroom blocks under CDF across the country, among other
achievements.
Mr IMENDA further says in its effort to fight corruption, the UPND government has managed to recover stolen assets amounting to over 53.6 million United States Dollars.
He has since urged all well – meaning Zambians to continue supporting the UPND government.
