Haimbe to Represent HH at Chapo’s Inauguration
Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Mulambo Haimbe, will today represent President Hakainde Hichilema at the inauguration ceremony of Mozambique’s President-elect, Daniel Francisco Chapo.
Several Heads of State and Government, or their representatives, are expected to attend the ceremony, which will take place at Independence Square in Maputo.
Mozambique held its Presidential, Legislative, and Provincial Elections on October 9, 2024, in which Daniel Chapo, of the ruling Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO), emerged as the winner with 65.17% of the vote.
Zambia’s presence at the ceremony demonstrates the government’s commitment to the longstanding bilateral relations that exist between Zambia and Mozambique, premised on shared values and interests.
Mr. Haimbe arrived in Maputo yesterday and was received by Zambia’s High Commissioner to Mozambique, Mary Chirwa.
This is according to a statement issued by Etambuyu Gundersen, Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
