HELSB to offer teachers 100% bursary

The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia- BETUZ -has signed a Memorandum of Understanding -MoU- with the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board.

The MOU is aimed at improving and empowering teachers with 100 percent Bursary to further their studies.

Speaking during the Ceremony, BETUZ General Secretary HENRY SINKALA said the initiative reflects the union’s commitment to supporting its members and supplementing government efforts in delivering quality teacher training.

Mr. SINKALA said this is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal number 4, which emphasizes quality education for all.

And Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board – HELSB Chief Executive Officer JOHN MACHAYI reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to empowering teachers with financial assistance through the establishment of a revolving Education Fund.

Dr. MACHAYI noted that the establishment of the revolving Education Fund is a testament to what can be achieved through strategic partnerships and shared vision.
