HH calls for financial training for athletes

President Hakainde Hichilema has called for investment in financial training for athletes in Zambia.
The President, who tasked the Ministry of Youth Sport and Arts to facilitate the training, says it is important for the Sport community to be equipped with knowledge on how to spend and invest for the future.
President Hichilema said this during a luncheon held in honor of the 2024 COSAFA Champions, the victorious U-17 football teams in Lusaka today.
The President said it is due to hard work and resilience that the country has become known at regional, continental and global levels for sport excellence.
And President Hichilema commended Copper Queens striker Barbara Banda for being crowned CAF Woman Footballer of the Year and the Under 17 teams for being crowned regional champions.
Meanwhile, Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu said the government is ready to support all the Sport codes.
Nkandu said his office will continue to work with other institutions and stakeholders to provide an enabling environment for sport to excel in the country.
NKANDA said this in a speech delivered on his behalf by Tourism Minister Rodney Sikumba.
Lusaka Province Minister SHEAL MULYATA said the victories scored by various athletes and officials has brought immense joy.
Meanwhile, National Olympic Committee of Zambia NOCZ -President Alfred Foloko thanked President Hichilema for playing a critical role in the successes scored by various athletes at both regional and global competitions.
And the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- has requested for enough financial support so that more young players are given an opportunity to play active football and also make record transfer moves.
