HH Calls for Prudent Resource Management After USAID Suspension
By Ruth Chayinda
President Hakainde Hichilema has called for the prudent management of resources following the suspension of USAID.
President Hichilema says the impact and disruption caused by the withdrawal of funding from USAID cannot be overstated.
He said this during a bilateral meeting with UNAIDS Executive Director and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Winnie Byanyima, on the sidelines of the just-ended AU Summit in Addis Ababa today.
Meanwhile, ZANIS reports that President Hichilema stressed the need for cheaper capital to support Africa’s economic development.
President Hichilema explains that high costs of capital can make viable businesses unprofitable and stall economic growth.
The Head of State said cheaper capital will help accelerate investments in key sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture, and manufacturing.
