President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has eulogised former President of the United States JIMMY CARTER for his contribution to fostering democracy in the world.
President HICHILEMA says President CARTER’s remarkable legacy is deeply felt in Zambia where he is respected for his unwavering commitment to peace, democracy, good governance and human rights among others.
He said this when he signed the book of condolence in honour of the 39th President of the United States of America at the US Embassy in Lusaka today.
President HICHILEMA said President CARTER formed a strong bond with Zambia, particularly during the country’s critical period of transition in 1991.
He said the CARTER Foundation played a pivotal role in Zambia’s return to multi-party democracy, ensuring a credible electoral process.
And US Embassy Acting Ambassador LINNISA WAHID thanked President HICHILEMA for taking time to honour the legacy of President CARTER.
