HH commits to increasing fish output in Luapula

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says government will invest more in the aquaculture sector in Luapula Province to increase fish production for the country.
President HICHILEMA says Luapula Province has the potential to produce enough fish for local consumption and export.
Speaking when he met various stakeholders in Chief MATANDA’s area in Mansa District this morning, President HICHILEMA said government will invest in fish cages on water bodies of Luapula Province.
He added that the water bodies which have been depleted will be restocked with fish.
President HICHILEMA said government wants Luapula Province to play a huge role in making the country self sufficient in fish.
He said government will also invest in agriculture in the area by bringing centre pivots.
President HICHILEMA said Luapula Province has water and good soil which can support agriculture.
The Head of State commended farmers in Luapula Province for producing 90,000 tonnes of maize, above the 30,000-tonne target given in the last faming season.
President HICHILEMA promised that more inputs will be sent to Luapula as it has shown that it can produce extra food for the nation.
And Mansa Central Member of Parliament CHITALU CHILUFYA said the people of Luapula Province are happy with the way President HICHILEMA is presiding over national affairs.
Dr. CHILUFYA said free education has given an opportunity to poor children in rural areas to attain education.
He said people in the province are also appreciating the increased Constituency Development Funds which have taken many projects to their localities.
Dr. CHILUFYA revealed that President HICHILEMA is the first sitting President to officiate at the CHABUKA BAUSHI Traditional Ceremony of the Ushi people.
Meanwhile, Party for National Unity and Progress President HIGHVIE HAMUDUDU said the opposition party has resolved to support President HICHILEMA’s candidature in the 2026 general election for continuity.
Mr. HAMUDUDU said President HICHILEMA has revived the mining sector and brought reforms in the energy sectors which are impressive.
He said President HICHILEMA’s policies will change the country’s economy in the next two years hence the need for him to continue for another five years to completely transform the country.
And Zambia’s Ambassador to Australia ELIAS MUNSHYA said many people in Milenge, Chembe and Mansa have benefited from government policies being implemented now.
Dr. MUNSHYA said many young people are happy that government has introduced free education and skills training which have given them an opportunity to further their education.
