President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has directed that all traditional leaders must get their farming inputs by September this year.
President HICHILEMA has wondered why the chiefs in Mumbwa district did not receive their fertilizer when government policy allows all of them to be receiving inputs.
He says traditional leaders are key stakeholders who should lead by example to encourage production and productivity in the country.
The President says with the drought ravaging the country, it is important that chiefs should also support their people to do irrigation farming.
And President HICHILEMA has directed that people must desist from igniting bush fires as they deprive cattle of what to eat.
He said this when he met SIX traditional leaders from Mumbwa District at Amatheon Agri Farms in Mumbwa today.
President HICHILEMA restated that government is doing its best to address the hunger situation in the country.
And speaking on behalf of other traditional leaders during the meeting, Chief MULENDEMA of Mumbwa District said efforts by the government to address the hunger situation are well appreciated.
The traditional leader also thanked government for fulfilling its promise of constructing Chiefs’ palaces.
Among the traditional leaders present in the meeting were Chief SHAKUMBILA, Chief MOONO, Chief MUMBA, Chief CHIBULUMA and Chief KAINDU.
The President is in Mumbwa to tour the Amatheon Agri Farms.
