President Hakainde Hichilema has donated 100,000 Kwacha to the Reformed Church in Zambia (RCZ) Petauke Congregation.
President Hichilema says the money should be used as seed money and invested in projects that will help the church become self-sustainable.
He says people should develop a habit of giving more to the church because when the church thrives, the country develops faster.
President Hichilema has also reminded the church to form cooperatives and become productive by tapping into empowerment schemes.
The President’s message was delivered by Special Assistant to the President for Politics, Levy Ngoma, when he attended a church service at RCZ Petauke Congregation.
RCZ Petauke Nyanja Presbytery Moderator Joseph Mwale has thanked President Hichilema for supporting the church.
Meanwhile, Eastern Province Minister Peter Phiri says the government does not segregate but works with every church.
