HH Has No Intention to Amend 50% Plus One Clause-Hamasaka
By Ruth Chayinda
State House says President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has no intention to remove the 50 percent plus one requirement in the quest to amend some clauses in the constitution.
State House Chief Communications Specialist, CLAYSON HAMASAKA adds that President HICHILEMA also has no intention to remove the term limit or increase the term limit.
In a statement issued to ZNBC News, Mr HAMASAKA said those claims made are pure based on imagination and speculation.
He said it is not possible for anyone to touch a document as sacred and important as the constitution in secrecy.
Mr. HAMASAKA said it is unfortunate that they are some sections of society attempting to mislead the public and incite unnecessary panic based on falsehoods and anarchy.
He said it is important for all Zambians to reject such misinformation and focus on facts rather than baseless political propaganda.
Mr HAMASAKA says the public should instead wait for the actual text from the Ministry of Justice on what is being proposed than debating something that has not even been published in the government gazette.
