HH invites Chinese firm to partner with Zambians in the energy sector

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has urged China’s Tebian Eletric Apparatus -TBEA- to partner with Zambian local companies in addressing energy challenges in the country.
President HICHILEMA says the government is willing to provide an environment for investment in the energy sector to address power challenges.
The president was speaking this afternoon after visiting China’s TBEA intelligent electrical park located in the North Western region of China.
The company specializes in manufacturing of power transmission and distribution equipment for hydro, solar and wind energy systems as well as mining.
The Head of State says he is impressed that the company has worked in Zambia through the construction of the Pensulo-Msoro-Chipata 330kv project.
The President is also impressed with the company’s ability to generate power at 4 cents per kilowatt hour which is a competitive price.
President HICHILEMA says with power challenges induced by drought, the company should consider investing in power generation and storage projects in Zambia.
And President HICHILIEMA says the country stands ready to reap maximum benefits from its minerals.
He made the remarks after he was shown some of the mining activities the company is undertaking and minerals being mined and used in the manufacturing of electric products.
President HICHILEMA says through joint ventures, Zambia can be able to leverage on raw materials for the company to manufacture products even for regional markets.
Some of the minerals that the company mines include lithium, silicon and aluminum.
Company Chairman ZHANG XIN said his company is ready to invest in Zambia’s energy sector.
Mr. ZHANG says his company wants to use the rich mineral resources in Zambia for the manufacturing of energy products.
He says the company has a footprint in Asia and Europe but wants to expand in Energy products in Zambia.
