HH meets delegation from IRH and Mopani Copper Mine

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says his Administration expects specific indications from mining companies on their contribution to the country’s attainment of three million metric tons of copper production.
President HICHILEMA has expressed happiness about the additional jobs that have been created at Mopani Copper Mines.
THE President was speaking when he met a delegation from International Resources Holding and Mopani Copper Mines called on him at State House to give an operational update of Mopani.
President HICHILEMA said that Mopani is critical to the country as it strives to attain three million metric tons of copper production.
And, IRH CEO ALI RASHDI said the goal of the Company is to ensure it contributes to the country’s economy and that it operates in a transparent manner.
Meanwhile, IRH Head of Technology SHASHANK SHARMA explained that one of the initiatives that Mopani has put in place involves technological transformation which has seen an extension of connectivity from the surface to the underground mine.
Mr. SHARMA said that IRH wants to put Zambia as the leader of technology in the mining industry and that the technology has been put in place to give the workers tools to succeed.
As a demonstration of this, President HICHILEMA was able to make a video call to the miners who were two kilometers underground.
