HH Praises Gawa Undi for maintain peace and stability

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has praised KALONGA GAWA UNDI of the Chewa people of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique for maintaining peace and stability in the three countries.
President HICHILEMA has also thanked GAWA UNDI for sustaining culture based on the foundation of peoples’ character.
The President said this when he graced the 2024 Kulamba traditional ceremony of the Chewa people of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique at Makaika Palace in Katete today.
President HICHILEMA says traditional ceremonies foster peace, security, stability and unity.
And President HICHILEMA has instructed Infrastructure Minister CHARLES MILUPI to give the Chipata-Chadiza and other road projects priority.
The President said this in response to concerns on road infrastructure by Kalonga GAWA UNDI.
He adds that works on the Chipata-Lundazi-Chasefu road will soon start as funding has already been secured.
Earlier, KALONGA GAWA UNDI called on the governments of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to prioritise smart agriculture in view of climate change.
KALONGA GAWA UNDI has also bemoaned the exploitation of natural resources in local areas by some investors without consultation from the traditional leadership.
The Chief says issuance of licenses should be done in consultation with the traditional leadership.
Kalonga GAWA UNDI said this through his representative, REUBEN KAMANGA.
Meanwhile, President LAZARUS CHAKWERA of Malawi has paid glowing tribute to the government of Zambia for the support rendered during the time his county was hit by tropical cyclone Freddy last year.
President CHAKWERA was speaking through Malawi’s Minister of Local Government and Culture, CHIMWENDO BANDA.
Dr CHAKWERA says Zambia’s support and that of other development partners lightened the burden for the people of his country.
And Mozambique’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, ELDEVINA MATERULA, who represented President FILIPE NYUSI praised the Chewa people in the three countries for promoting unity.
Ms. MATERULA says her country is grateful for the support given by Zambia in the SADC region and will continue to promote the growth of tourism through traditional ceremonies like Kulamba.
