HH praises Prof. MWEENE’s intelligence

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has described former Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Professor BENJAMIN MWEENE as an extraordinary and extremely intelligent man who believed in hard work.
President HICHILEMA says it is a rare attribute to have intellectual capability and hard work.
He says Professor MWEENE served as Permanent Secretary in charge of Finance at the Ministry of Finance, which is responsible for generating and directing public expenditure every year.
President HICHILEMA says Professor MWEENE was a distinguished citizen and an accomplished academician.
The President says his contribution to national development, unwavering loyalty and selfless service will forever be appreciated.
President HICHILEMA says he completed his Masters’ degree programme at the University of Birmingham ahead of time because he was inspired to work hard by Professor MWEENE who had left a great impact.
He was speaking during the funeral church service of Professor MWEENE in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, Professor MWEENE’s children said he taught them values of hard work, integrity and perseverance.
The children were represented by JOHN LOVELACE.
MAINZA MWEENE on behalf of other grandchildren said their grandfather was wise, kind, loving and a problem solver.
And his friend Professor SINDAACE SIAMWIZA said Professor MWEENE was a visionary who solved an algebraic problem which had no solution for 50 years.
In his homily, Pastor HAMMITONE MULENDEMA encouraged the family to remain strong and find solace in God.
University of Zambia Vice Chancellor MUNDIA MUYA said Professor MWEENE was the first black Zambian to hold a PHD in Mathematics and became Head of School of Mathematics.
