
HH sends delegation of Ministers and Clerics to Pope Francis’ Funeral in Rome
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has sent a delegation led by Foreign Affairs Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE to represent him at the funeral of POPE FRANCIS in Rome.
The other Minister is Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Minister CHARLES MILUPI .
Others, who will be part of the delegation are Archbishop of Kasama The Most Reverend IGNATIUS CHAMA, and Bishop of Chipata who is also president of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops -ZCCB- Right Reverend GEORGE ZUMAILE LUNGU .
President HICHILEMA says the passing of Pope FRANCIS, who promoted unity and coexistence, should further strengthen the unity of solidarity between the Catholic Church in Zambia and Government .
The President says he attaches great importance to Church and Government relations adding that the death of the Pope is a big blow to humanity .
President HICHILEMA has described POPE FRANCIS as a man of deep humility and compassion, who led the Catholic Church with integrity and devotion.
He says he is mourning the Pope together with the Church with deep grief .
President HICHILEMA expressed profound sorrow on the passing of the Pope who died on Monday 21st April, 2025, at the age of 88.
