President Hakainde Hichilema has asked India to bring its advanced medical services to Zambia.
President Hichilema says India’s specialized hospitals should invest in Zambia to help reduce the country’s medical expenses for advanced treatments sought abroad.
He says Zambia must tap into India’s highly advanced healthcare system, which has the latest equipment.
President Hichilema said this when Indian High Commissioner to Zambia, Ashok Kumar, paid a farewell courtesy call on him at State House this afternoon.
The President further called on India to partner with Zambia in investing in agricultural technologies.
Mr. Kumar said the development partnership between Zambia and India has expanded into various sectors.
He added that India has provided 68 million U.S. dollars for constructing 650 prefabricated health posts and 29 million dollars for a 120-megawatt hydro power plant, among other projects.
At the same meeting, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe pledged Zambia’s continued cooperation with India to deepen development ties.
