HH urges thorough investigations before arrests
By Ruth Chayinda
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says government is not interfering in the operations of law enforcement agencies by asking them to thoroughly investigate cases before prosecution.
President HICHILEMA says the call is meant to ensure that law enforcement agencies do their work professionally by investigating before arrests are made.
He says it is unfortunate that some sections have chosen to misunderstand his call for thorough investigation of cases quietly before they are made public.
President HICHILEMA said this when he swore in Anti Corruption Commission Director General DAPHNE CHABU and Human Rights Commission Director General MBOLOWA WAMUNYIMA at State House today.
And the President urged the law enforcement agencies to be proactive in correcting the narrative being created in government’s fights against corruption.
President HICHILEMA also said that the Human Rights Commission should ensure that every citizen enjoys their rights.
He said since the UPND assumed office, the country has recorded significant progress in attaining freedoms which was acknowledged by the UN Special Rapporteur.
President HICHILEMA also said Transparency International Zambia has further commended Government for some achievements scored.
